In looking ahead for April holidays to write about, I discovered the greatest holiday ever. April 3rd is “Don’t Go to Work Unless It’s Fun” Day. Sure, on the surface this is just silly. I had the initial thoughts of, why the arbitrary day of April 3rd? Wouldn’t it make more sense to be the day after the Super Bowl or St. Patrick’s Day? Those are days I’m likely to really not want to go to work unless it’s fun. Some of you may be asking, shouldn’t that be every day?
What does this have to do with email marketing? After thinking beyond the novelty of Don’t Go to Work Unless It’s Fun Day, I realized there could be something there. Not just because I want an easy way out of work. I swear! First, for an email marketer it’s always a goal to be memorable. Don’t Go To Work Unless It’s Fun Day is not something I will soon forget, and I’m guessing your subscribers won’t either.
Second, there could really be a campaign there beyond a catchy name for a holiday. Perhaps many of your subscribers own their own businesses. Challenge them to come up with fun ideas to actually make their employees to want to come into work that day. You can even suggest some ideas in your email campaign. The better your ideas, the more likely your email campaign is to become viral. Make sure you include the social sharing buttons.
