Preview Text Feature

They say the subject line is your email campaign’s first impression. That’s true. However, with the use of a preheader you get a second chance at your first impression. The preheader is that bit of text that follows the subject line and appears in most inbox clients. Benchmark Email’s new Preview Text feature allows you a quick and easy way to manage what your subscribers will see in the preheader. Like a too small yet overpriced apartment in New York City, maximizing limited space is key. This advanced feature allows you to do just that in the inbox. It can also help boost the open rates of your email campaigns. The most important information should still remain in your subject line, and the preheader text is there to reinforce it. It’s important to note that there’s still a few inbox clients that don’t display the preheader. However, for everyone else the Preview Text feature is available for all regular campaigns, RSS campaigns and autoresponders when you’re using the Drag & Drop, Cose or Classic Editor. It does not be seen in the text version of your HTML emails and is also not available in the Plain Text Editor. We’ve created a helpful FAQ to show you how to put the Preview Text to use. Feature Spotlight: Inbox Checker

Feature Spotlight: Inbox Checker

If you grew up around the time that I did, you’ll recall those Miss Cleo infomercials. Call this 800 number and have your fortune told. I was too young to have a credit card, so I’m heading into my future blind. Not with everything, though. No. Benchmark Email has provided me and anyone using our tools with a bit of a crystal ball of our own. Inbox Checker lets you see how your email campaigns will appear on any device and/or inbox client. If you’re the one in charge of email marketing for your company, you’ve probably gone desk to desk, asking coworkers to see how your latest email campaign looks on their various devices. It’s exhausting. Thanks to Inbox Checker it’s also unnecessary. Included in every Benchmark account, for free, is Gmail (Explorer) and Outlook 2003. They’re both frequently used inbox clients. You can test for Email Clients and Spam Filters. Plus, for $14 you can add 100 tests to run the gamut of inbox clients and devices. With new gadgets and gizmos coming out every day it’s important to stay on the forefront. The time you’ll save while opening all those test emails on various browsers, devices ... is worth the cost of the additional tests alone. The Inbox Checker may not have the memorable infomercials that Miss Cleo did, but its powers are far more real. However, if you’re using our Email Designer it shouldn’t even matter. That’s because our Email Designer creates responsive emails ready for any device and inbox client. The Inbox Checker is still there ... for those of you prone to being an email marketing perfectionist (or just neurotic like me).

Benchmark Email New Feature: Add Personal Greetings

Benchmark Email New Feature: Add Personal Greetings

Beyond • December 29, 2010

I hope all of you found some fun new toys under the Christmas tree or Chanukah bush this year (or however else your faith and family may bring you presents). While everyone was sipping on egg nog this past weekend, we were preparing a new toy for our users. We have added the option to insert a greeting into your emails. Holiday season or not, we could all stand to be a little friendlier. A personalized greeting in your email campaigns shows your subscribers that they\'re more than just an address. To include a personalized greeting in your email, first select the block in the editor that you want to add the greeting to. Within the block, click where you would like the greeting to appear. Select Greeting from the Insert Additional Elements section on the lefthand side of your screen. A box will pop up allowing you to customize the greeting. Dear is the default for the Primary Greeting but it can be changed. You can choose First Name, Last Name or both First Name & Last Name. The Primary Greeting will display whatever contact information you set to appear. If there is no information for a particular contact, the greeting will go to the Alternative Greeting. This can be something simple like Greetings! (which is the default). For example, if you choose First Name in the Primary Greeting, the Alternative Greeting will display for any contact who has the first name blank in your contact information. Personalization is a great way to engage your subscribers. People will be less likely to tune out your communications if they feel like an email is tailored exclusively for them. Targeted email marketing takes more than just adding a personalized greeting to an email, but it\'s the best place to start!

The Benchmark Email Feature Wish List Forum

The Benchmark Email Feature Wish List Forum

Beyond • June 3, 2010

Adding new email marketing features to our already vast repertoire is always an exciting thing for us here at Benchmark Email HQ. Not only because it allows us to puff out our chests a little more and be proud of our product, but also because we know it\'s going to make the lives of our customers a bit easier. Our latest feature, we are pleased to announce, is all about you. This week Benchmark Email introduced the Feature Wish List Forum. Any customer can tell us a feature they’d like to see implemented or vote for another idea that’s previously been suggested. It’s our way of letting you know that we’re listening. The idea you suggest might even become the latest and greatest feature that we’re blogging about! Even though the forum has only been live for a very short time, we’re already preparing to implement a new feature that came from the Wish List. The Feature Wish List Forum can be accessed from your homepage when you’re logged into your Benchmark Email account. Click on the red Feedback button on the left side of your screen. Each user is given 25 votes to begin with. You can designate up to three votes per feature suggestion. You can get those votes back once a feature you have voted for has been completed or deleted. You can also change your votes by clicking on them. The forum will send you an email digest of any activity on your ideas. This includes comments, status changes and responses from the admin. When in the forum, you can suggest an idea of your own at the top. You can also browse the list of features that have already been suggested, and they are organized by tabs. The first tab is called Top Ideas. These suggestions are the leading vote getters, and they are closest to being implemented in our services. The next tab is the Hot tab - the ideas that have received votes and comments in the past 15 days. Next is the New tab, where you can see the most recent suggestions from the past 15 days. The Accepted tab tells you the features that our programmers are currently working into our system, and the Completed tab denotes those features that have officially become a part of the Benchmark Email service. We hope that you are as excited about this new forum as we are because it’s all about you. We want what you want: the best possible product that satisfies all your wants and needs. This forum allows our customers to take ownership of that fact. Just like the people in the new Windows 7 commercials, you’ll brag that you’re responsible for our great new feature. The difference is that with the Benchmark Email Feature Wish List Forum, it really could be true.
